4 Soup Recipes for Winter (my all-time favorites!)

When the temperature drops, I always come back to these soup recipes for comfort. These are my favorite soups to make not only during winter, but year-round!

White Chicken Chili

I love Lisa from Downshiftology. Her videos are a huge inspiration for meal prep for me, and I can always rely on her recipes to be delicious.

This white chicken chili is one of my go-to soup recipes. I like that it feels a little lighter than the standard tomato-based, ground beef chili, but still has a kick with the jalapeƱos and spices in the recipe.

My favorite part of eating chili might be garnishing it! I love putting avocado, fresh cilantro, sour cream, and shredded cheese on top of mine.

Black Bean Soup

Lisa has another great soup recipe for black bean soup. This recipe is a great way to use up some kitchen staples: carrots, onions, celery, and canned black beans. I often have everything I need to make this soup already in my kitchen!

Like the white chicken chili, this recipe also includes jalapeƱo and a lot of warming spices. It’s also super simple to make. Aside from chopping some vegetables, the rest of the ingredients come from a can!

I like using an immersion blender to make my soup a little thicker and smoother. It also pairs great with crusty bread or rice.

Red Lentil Soup

This next recipe is from Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook. There’s no recipe for it online, but she has posted a picture of it on Pinterest and Instagram! I included both below. I’m sorry for the inconvenience but this recipe is too good not to share!

I love cooking with lentils. They’re a great source of protein, filling, inexpensive, and quick/easy to cook. A little bit can take you a long way!

I think of this soup as a vegetarian chicken soup – it has all the classic flavors of a chicken soup, but replaces the chicken for lentils. This is a great option for any non-meat eaters in your life.

Zuppa Toscana (Olive Garden-inspired)

I know Olive Garden can get a bad rap, but I’ve always enjoyed their soups and salads (and breadsticks!). This recipe is a copy-cat for one of my favorite soups there, zuppa toscana.

I love that this soup can be a whole meal. It has greens from the kale, a starch from the potato, and protein from the sausage. I like using a spicy Italian sausage for a little kick, and there’s something special about how soft and creamy potatoes get in soup.

This soup is also a little indulgent compared to the others, with the addition of cream and bacon. It’s such a treat!

Those are all my favorite soup recipes! Though the title of this post says “for winter,” I make all of these in rotation year-round, even when it’s hot out. Definitely give these soup recipes a try!
